The city of Fall River has traditionally been a blue community where Democrats have thrived.

But after the unofficial numbers came in from the city’s 27 polling places, the Spindle City looks like a shade of purple, with former President Donald Trump sliding into first place over Vice President Kamala Harris.

The unofficial tally: the Trump/Vance ticket came in at 50.52% of the vote compared to the Harris/Walz vote at 47.58%.

Trump support was evident at the city polling places where Trump supporters holding campaign signs seemed to outnumber voters supporting Harris. Pickup trucks donning giant American flags and Trump signs were seen traveling outside polling places, honking horns at the Trump supporters, eliciting cheers and thumbs-up signals.

And this seeming shift in party loyalty from blue to red in the Spindle City was also evident in another national election for the U.S. Senate, with Democrat incumbent Elizabeth Warren winning in Fall River by a narrow margin of 51.43% over Republican challenger John Deaton, who garnered 48.40% from Fall River voters.

CORRECTION: Due to an editing error, a previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Donald Trump was the first Republican presidential candidate to win Fall River since Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. Eisenhower lost Fall River to Adlai Stevenson in a close election.
