
Long was nominated by Gov. Gina Raimondo in December to replace Justice Francis Flaherty who retired in October. Long had previously served on the Superior Court after being appointed by Raimondo in 2017. She has degrees from the University of Virginia and the George Mason University School of Law.
Raimondo also appointed former state Sen. Erin Lynch Prata to the Rhode Island Supreme Court in December. Both women were confirmed by the General Assembly later that month. The state’s highest court will now have a female majority.
