This election year, we want to hear from the young residents of Rhode Island and the South Coast: What do you love about your community, and what could be better?
Conversations about elections tend to focus on the candidates and what’s on their agenda. But we are committed to serving the communities in our region with coverage of the 2024 elections that’s informed by you, for you. And we want to start by hearing what you care about most, what you’d like to know more about, and what your concerns are. What should we be paying attention to? What do you wish your elected officials, and candidates vying for office, were talking about? What we hear from you will help shape our elections coverage.
In these listening sessions, attendees will take part in small group conversations where you’ll share and discuss what you think matters most in your community. We may reach out to you afterwards for a story, or to participate in a voters panel discussion.
Who is it for? English- and Spanish-speaking residents of Rhode Island and the South Coast, ages 18-27 years old. Registration limited to 25 attendees per session.
SESSIONS:
- Sept. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Rhode Island College Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls. Food and drinks provided!
- Sept. 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m., online via Zoom.
- Sept. 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Westerly Library. Food and drinks provided!

Este año electoral, queremos oír las opiniones de los jovenes residentes de Rhode Island y la costa sur: ¿qué es lo que más amás de tu comunidad y qué podría ser mejor?
Las conversaciones sobre elecciones tienen la tendencia de centrarse más en los candidatos y en lo que hay en su agenda. Pero estamos comprometidos a servir a las comunidades de nuestra región con una cobertura de las elecciones 2024 informado por ustedes y para ustedes. Y antes de todo queremos oír de ti, que es lo que más te importa, qué te gustaría saber más y cuáles son tus inquietudes. ¿En qué deberíamos fijarnos?¿De qué le gustaría que estuvieran hablando sus funcionarios electos y los candidatos que están compitiendo por tu voto? También podemos comunicarnos con usted después del evento para preguntarte más de tus experiencias, o preguntarte si quieres participar en un comité de discusión de votantes.
