Parenting is complicated. Make that very complicated. Isn’t it a given that caring for a child includes an inevitable mix of joyous and proud moments, anxiety-filled and frustrating drama, and heart-stopping terror? And, there’s no owner’s manual with fail-proof, step-by-step instructions. Most of us just figure it out as we go along. Among parents’ greatest worries is that our child will suffer, and we may not be able to fix it, at least not easily. And when suffering happens, our fervent hope is that our child, and we, will survive it and move from strength to strength. And that’s what we hear from Rebekah Ham. 

Rebekah Ham lives in Providence with her husband Russell Carey and their daughters, Fiona, Grace, and Esmae. She is a leader with the 46 Mommas, a national campaign to raise awareness about kids with cancer. Ham also raises awareness for childhood cancer through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
