Rhode Island is considering legislation to enact one of the country’s strictest firearm storage laws. And last night, Governor McKee signed into law the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act, expanding abortion care to those on Medicaid and the state employee health plan. Also, here in Rhode Island, it’s up to judges to decide whether people who violate probation can be released on bail. On Thursday, protestors held a rally in support of a new bill that would change that. Plus: the Newport Art Museum has two outstanding shows featuring textiles and apparel.
