GEV Wind, a company based in the United Kingdom that maintains the large, high-tech blades that help capture wind energy, has chosen the town of North Kingstown for its U.S. headquarters.
The company says it intends to create over 120 full-time jobs in its first three years and expects to generate millions of dollars of economic activity for the state.
In 2016, Rhode Island built the nation’s first offshore wind farm off the coast of Block Island. And now, as wind energy continues to grow across the Mid-Atlantic, GEV Wind’s decision is yet another sign that Rhode Island is set to be a major player in the industry.
