The Slip started in the jamband scene in Providence and Boston back in the ’90s and has gone on to morph into other incarnations. The Slip will hit The Fete Music Hall in Providence Friday night as part of a legacy tour. Morning Edition Host Chuck Hinman talked with Brad Barr.

Chuck became part of RIPR in 2012 after a career on commercial radio. He got his broadcasting start as an announcer for Off Track Betting Corporation in NYC. He’s been a news director, music director, production director and morning personality on radio stations in Providence and Boston.
A native of New Jersey, Chuck attended the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri and graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in Mass Communications.

George Wein remembers Bob Dylan’s electric moment at the Newport Folk Festival
George Wein died Monday at the age of 95. He was the founder of the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals and helped set the template for music festivals around the world. In 2015, he talked with Chuck Hinman, morning host for The Public’s Radio. It was 50 years after Bob Dylan played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival and shocked the folk music faithful with an electric guitar.
