West Nile Virus has been found in mosquitos collected in Seekonk.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health discovered the virus, which can infect people of all ages. It is commonly transmitted to humans by a mosquito bite. People over age 50 are at a higher risk for severe infection.

The health department recommends applying insect repellant before going outdoors, wearing long pants and socks and being aware of peak hours for bites from dusk to dawn.
