A new app allows Rhode Island residents to get farm-fresh products delivered directly to their door. The app, WhatsGood, was developed by the company Crave Food Systems. CEO Matt Tortora said he hopes it will encourage more people to buy local.

“Many of the consumers that we’ve talked to, that are using the delivery service, want to support farmers and truly believe in better food,” Tortora said.

But, Tortora added, many people tell him they “haven’t found the ability to work it out and fit it into the schedule and go out to the market.”

The WhatsGood app currently works with farms in Chepachet, Cranston, and Pawtucket, among others. It’s a variation on food delivery companies like Peadpod and Amazon.
