Nurses and technicians at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital are set to picket again Tuesday, an informational picket line to be set up at Miriam Hospital. The hospital’s union is in a heated contract negotiation with hospital administrator Lifespan.

Earlier this summer members of  the United Nurses and Allied Professionals, or UNAP, staged a strike after rejecting a contract offer from Lifespan in July. The union took to the streets with complaints about pay and staffing levels.

The walkout lasted about four days, during which Lifespan hired hundreds of temporary workers to keep the two hospitals running.

Last week, the union voted no confidence in hospital leadership. According UNAP, both sides are set to return to contract negotiations Wednesday.

UNAP members continue to work under a contract that expired on June 30th.

The union represents about 2,400 hospital employees.
