Rhode Islanders will go to the polls Tuesday to vote in a primary election. The general lack of high-profile races is expected to result in a low turnout of voters.

But the primary does include some significant General Assembly races. The results may be definitive for some lawmakers, who are not expected to face a challenger in the General Election in November.

Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea declines to esimate what percentage of voters will come out of the polls. But she said it’s important to participate.

“Voting is absolutely your essential right as a citizen, and you should definitely go out there and vote in the primary,” said Gorbea. “Go to vote.ri.gov and you can see your sample ballot and your polling place.”
