U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha will hold a series of town hall meetings about the growing public health crisis of opioid addiction and overdose. The programs kick of today as part of National Heroin and Opioid Awareness week.

Events throughout Rhode Island will be open to the public and each will include a screening of a documentary about the life of an opioid addict. Following the screening will be discussions with members of the medical and addiction treatment communities as well as education and law enforcement representatives. The first event takes place at 10 am at the Brown University School of Professional Studies in Providence, along with U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed. Evening events will be held throughout the rest of the week in South Kingstown, Woonsocket, and Middletown.
