In an interview, Mayor Jorge Elorza said it's too soon to know if Brown University, RISD, and the other colleges and universities located in Providence will be able to resume conventional classes this fall.

Will the decline in city revenue due to COVID-19 force service cuts or tax hikes? Again, Elorza said, it's too soon to know.

Providence has the most coronavirus cases in the state. The mayor said the city has responded with increased testing, by sharing information, and by trying to assist those in need.
