Central Falls Superintendent Victor Capellan is just the third Latino ever to run a Rhode Island school district.

Students and teachers are returning to classrooms across Rhode Island, including Central Falls, where a new superintendent has just taken charge. 

Victor Capellan now runs what has long been known as one of the worst-performing school districts in the state.

 

Capellan is the same person who oversaw a major turnaround effort at Central Falls High School, and he spoke with Rhode Island Public  Radio’s  Elisabeth Harrison about how the school is doing now, and what’s next for Central Falls schools.
