Movie producers are looking for extras in Fall River. And some local residents have been taking their shot at 15 seconds of stardom, while others are searching for one specific star.
Local residents have been bringing their headshots and acting skills to Narragansett Mills on North Main Street this week.
Dighton resident Rachelle Camara took a break from her day-job as a pharmacist to take her shot at 15 seconds of fame, and she said if she’s called back she has what might sound like a quirky plan to stand out in the background.
“Be a creep, probably, like do something really weird. And be Like, ‘why is she harassing an old lady?’ You just have to do something a little wacky under the radar,” Camara said.
Camara is hoping to be an extra in the upcoming film ‘Jungleland.’ The movie features Charlie Hunnam, best known for his role as ‘Jax’ in FX’s Sons of Anarchy. Jungleland is a story about two brothers, Stanley and Lion, struggling to get by. While managing Lion’s boxing career, Stanley bets on each of Lion’s matches plunging himself into debt.
A few blocks away from the casting call, dozens of Charlie Hunnam fans wait outside a gray mill where the film is shooting.
Local resident Amber Amaral said she’s been waiting outside in the hot sun for at least three hours. But, it’s worth it for the chance to grab a few seconds with Hunnam.
“My goal is a photo and an autograph somewhere so I can get it tattooed on me. That’s my goal,” Amaral said.
So far, she’s only gotten a glimpse of the chiseled blonde Brit.
Diehard fan Katie Hallett had been waiting since 10 a.m. She’s wearing a t-shirt with Hunnam’s face displayed on the front. She has a range of Sons of Anarchy gear from sweatshirts to slippers ready to be signed.
Hallett said she was getting the inside scoop from listening to crew members around the set.
“I overheard the guy talking saying that they do 12 hour days . That he had just walked in at 12 when everybody swarmed to the door to see him. But, that’s pretty much it that I’ve heard so far,” Hallett said.
Unlike some other fans, Hallett said she has no plan to get on set as an extra.
Filming is scheduled to begin this weekend, shooting through the end of September.
