Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein on Tuesday approved the $25.6 million settlement over 38 Studios with two large financial firms, Wells Fargo Securities and Barclays Capital.

When 38 Studios was attracted to Rhode Island back in 2010, the two companies helped place bonds as part of the deal.

Other defendants in the state’s lawsuit over 38 Studios objected to the latest settlement. Judge Silverstein ruled the objections were already addressed by earlier written decisions in the case.

With the latest settlement, taxpayers still owe about $30 million due to the failure of 38 Studios in 2012.

Jury selection in the case is slated to start in October.
