In another sign that campus life will be dramatically changed at college this year, the athletic conference, has decided to suspend fall athletics for the upcoming academic year. That means no cross country meets, field hockey or football games among the eight institutions – including Brown.
The decision comes as colleges and universities nationwide begin rolling out their plans for fall. Brown will move to a trimester schedule, with upper grades arriving to campus for September classes. According to a Brown spokesman, some athletes could still be on campus in the fall, for training, pending decisions by the athletics department.
The Ivy League will issue guidance for winter and spring sports, and possibly moving some fall sports to other seasons at a later date.
However, Brown is also a member of the NCAA, the much larger organizing body for college athletics, which has yet to make a public decision on the upcoming season.
