Governor Baker said the Commonwealth is looking to have businesses reopen their doors under special conditions starting May 18.

The governor says the state has yet to see a drop in cases and hospitalization rates for COVID-19 patients are still high.

"Yes, it’s flattened out," Baker said. "But we have not seen a downward trend there and that’s a really important measure about what’s going on out there in the community generally."

Massachusetts reported 1,500 new coronavirus cases on Monday, for a total of over 56,000. A little over 3,000 people have died.

In New Bedford, over 90% of businesses have had to temporarily shut their doors due to the crisis.
