Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling has plans to personally collect supplies and cash for Hurricane Harvey victims, but critics on social media are wary, saying donations should only go to legitimate charities.
Schilling has responded by vowing to drive donations to Texas Friday and personally deliver them to victims.
In a tweet he answered critics saying, “No need to donate if you don’t trust where the money is going.”
The head of the Washington D.C. based nonprofit Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Bob Ottenhoff, said relief organizations already on the ground in Texas have the experience to better handle donations.
