The head of Rhode Island’s Medicaid program is stepping down from her post. That will be the second vacancy at a top state health position.
The departure of Anya Rader Wallack from Medicaid’s top post comes after Maria Montanaro, director of the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals stepped down earlier this summer. In a statement, a health and human services spokesperson says the office has a strong leadership team in place that will ensure both agencies remain on track. Rader Wallack will remain at Medicaid through the end of September. A search is underway for a new Director.
At the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals, Becky Boss is serving as Acting Director for an extended period of time while officials explore a possible reorganization of departments and services.
