An arctic chill is expected to pass through the state on Thursday evening and bring temperatures in the single digits for Friday. Frank Nocera of the National Weather Service says a sudden cold snap isn’t uncommon for this time of year.
“It’s happened before,” Nocera said “and you have the core of the cold area coming in Thursday. Thursday night low temperatures in Rhode Island will range from about zero in the northern part of the state to about five to ten above in the Southern part of the state.”
Nocera added that residents can expect warmer temperatures by Saturday, but should be wary of exposure to the cold on Friday.
