The CCRI faculty union voted no confidence this week in President Meghan Hughes.
Among the issues is a new 12-day winter term, which offers courses on a condensed schedule.
Faculty Union President Steven Murray says the union believes these classes are inadequate.
Murray explained, “The English department unanimously voted that these courses are not pedagogically appropriate to be taught in such a compressed format.”
Plus, those condensed courses will impact how students are prepared for future courses.
“If you take the course in 12 days, and you fail that course, you won’t be able to take the next course,” Murray said.
A spokeswoman for CCRI says the college will press on with a new winter term despite opposition from its faculty. And, In a statement, CCRI President Hughes did not acknowledge concerns about the winter term, pointing instead to the college’s growing graduation rates.
