David McCullough, the acclaimed author, historian and teacher, will deliver the commencement address at Providence College’s 100th commencement exercises on Sunday, May 20th at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence.
A master of narrative history, McCullough has won two Pulitzer prizes, two national book awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He is the biographer of President Harry Truman and the author of “The Johnstown Flood” and “Americans in Paris” and “The Wright Brothers,” among other works.
McCullough will receive an honorary doctorate. Others who will be awarded honorary degrees at commencement include, Joseph Brum, a member of PC’s class of 1968 and a founder of the college’s alumni relations program; Brian Maher, is a member of the 1968 PC class and former director of the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center at Farmingdale College; Larry Rachleff, former music director of the Rhode Island Philharmonic; Lisa Schenck, a member of PC’s 1983 class and associate dean for academic affairs at the George Washington School of Law; and Beverly Daniel Tatum, former president of Spelman College.
