The Rhode Island Office of Veterans Affairs is awarding $200,000 in grants to four organizations that support veterans.
Grant recipients include Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority, the YWCA Rhode Island, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rhode Island. Some of the funds will be used to provide housing, help supply basic household necessities, and finance services that assist veterans filing disability claims.
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island is expected to receive the largest sum of funds- two grants of $50,000 each to prevent homelessness among veterans and provide legal services.
