19 People Become US Citizens At McCoy Stadium

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is celebrating Independence Day with naturalization ceremonies across the country. 

Over the course of the week, 15,000 people are expected to be sworn in as American Citizens, including 19 in the Ocean State.

U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell administered the Oath of Allegiance Monday to Rhode Island’s candidates at McCoy Stadium.

The candidates represent 14 different countries of origin and nine communities in the Ocean State. 

It will take more than 65 ceremonies to naturalize all 15,000 candidates in the U.S.
