The FBI has seized about $810,000 in assets under the control of former state Rep. Ray Gallison, a Bristol Democrat, who stepped down in May as chairman of the House Finance Committee.
In an online posting earlier this week, the FBI revealed that it seized the assets under Gallison’s control. Some of the money was part of the estate of a friend of Gallison’s from Barrington who died in 2012. That individual, Ray Medley, had hired Gallison to handle the liquidation of his estate.
But parts of the estate were never distributed as Medley had attended, according to Warren lawyer Thomas “Tucker” Wright. That led to Gallison’s removal as the executor for Medley’s estate.
The FBI seized the money under Gallison’s control in early May, shortly after the Bristol Democrat resigned after 15 years as a state rep. He has not been charged in connection with the case, and investigators have declined to discuss the nature of the probe.
The link between Gallison and Medley’s estate was first reported by WJAR-TV, Channel 10.
