With his family standing behind him, Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia disputed fraud allegations. He clicked through a slide show about the app company he founded before he was elected.

The slides show emails regarding the app’s finances, it’s status in the apple store and Google analytics.

Correia said this evidence refutes claims the U.S. Attorney made last week that the app was only a prototype that never made any money.

“It is intimidating what is before me, but I will fight it and I will allow the truth to come out. And I think that there will be a lot of people that will be embarrassed, a lot of local people that will be embarrassed,” Correia said.

He said the charges against him are “100 percent false” and politically motivated.

“We had former district attorneys upset that a 23-year old beat them,” Correia said. “We had my most recent opponent place their entire campaign on the fact that I would be indicted. This from day one began as a political attack as somebody who was challenging the norms here in Fall River.”

He refused to answer questions about the indictment and recent reports of his eviction.

Correia said he will not resign as mayor and it is up to the people to decide his fate as mayor. Fall River’s city council will meet Tuesday night to vote on whether or nor Correia should stay in office.
