House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello said Tuesday the House has substantial agreement with the Senate and the governor’s office on most issues. Through his spokesman, Mattiello said final details continue to be addressed ahead of the vote.

The House Finance Committee plans to vote Thursday night on its version of Governor Gina Raimondo’s budget proposal.

The next fiscal year begins July first. Ahead of that, the state faces a $134 million deficit that needs to be wiped out. It will cost another $26 million to start the phaseout of the car tax.

Raimondo proposed her $9.2 billion budget in January.

It remains unclear if the House budget will contain even part of the governor’s proposal to offer Rhode Islanders two years of college tuition.
