Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian heads to New Hampshire this weekend for a summit on coastal flooding and sea level rise.

In 2010 devastating floods left much of Warwick without power, water, and sewer service In 2013, Superstorm Sandy breached the protective levee at the city’s wastewater treatment facility.

Avedisian will join a group of mayors, federal leaders, and representatives from other states to exchange stories and resources.

“And so we’re looking for ways that we can take the experience that we’ve had here, and share that with others and learn from what they’ve done," said Avedisian. "So we can take best practices and move that to our own community.”

Avedisian said more and more coastal cities are proactively seeking to shore up against rising tides and more frequent and intense storms.
