Pawtucket Police, along with police in Massachusetts have arrested a man suspected of stabbing 53 year old William McKenna.  McKenna is the younger brother of state Supreme Court Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg.

Police believe 21 year old Matthew Marcotte stabbed McKenna Tuesday afternoon, outside a convenience store on Benefit Street in Providence.  McKenna died of his injuries at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. Police say surveillance video led to Marcotte’s arrest at a hotel in Seekonk, Massachusetts.

Pawtucket Police Major Arthur Martins says police believe the two were known to each other. “We do not believe it was a random act. We believe it was a chance encounter.  Mr. Marcotte disliked Mr. McKenna for something that we’re still investigating at this point," said Martins.

Marcotte is now facing the charge of first degree murder.  McKenna’s death was the first homicide of the year in Pawtucket.
