A foster home for teenagers is under investigation by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families after an employee was arrested for assaulting a resident.
The home, called Liberty Lane, has since been closed until the agency can complete its investigation. Six residents have been moved into alternative housing. Liberty Lane is operated by Child and Family of Rhode Island, a social service agency that provides millions of dollars in services to DCYF clients. Child and Family president Martin Sinnott says there has been an uptick in police contact with residents at the home. But he calls the most recent incident disappointing and a violation of Child and Family's responsibility to its clients.
