Governor Gina Raimondo is in Washington D.C. this weekend. She’s participating in the annual gathering of the National Governors Association.
Raimondo will rub elbows with the leaders of other states around the country and take part in several panels and discussions, including a meeting of the Economic Development and Commerce committee, of which she is a member. She’s also scheduled meet with President Barack Obama along with the country’s other Democratic governors
Raimondo says she will also meet separately with New England Governor’s to discuss regional issues, specifically the area’s energy needs.
“What more can we be doing to bring down energy costs, to make the grid more reliable and sustainable, and all the while move faster towards affordable renewables,” said Raimondo.
At last year’s national governor’s meeting, Raimondo hinted she was unhappy with the way the General Assembly handles the state budget, a remark that drew the ire of local lawmakers.
