Baptista led Rhode Island Democrats' coordinated campaign last year, when the party completely shut out Republicans in races for state and federal offices for the first time in decades.
Baptista served for a time as finance director for Angel Taveras' 2014 Democratic gubernatorial campaign. Baptista previously worked for Gina Raimondo, for Frank Caprio's 2010 gubernatorial campaign, and for Ralph Mollis' 2014 run for lieutenant governor.
Baptista also worked with lawyer and lobbyist Nick Hemond in aiding a series of General Assembly candidates, including Rep. Cale Keable, now chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
Along with other Democratic operatives, Baptista worked on then-House Speaker Gordon Fox's hard-fought 2012 re-election campaign. The meltdown of 38 Studios was a leading issue in the race, as Fox -- now serving a prison sentence for corruption in an unrelated case -- repulsed a challenge by Mark Binder.
Baptista declined comment when contacted by RIPR.
