Higher education officials say a total of 41 people sent in resumes for the job of president of the Community College of Rhode Island, by a deadline in late July. Since then a committee from the state council for higher education has been reviewing the candidates. The panel will select finalists and present them to the full council.

Current CCRI President Ray DiPasquale has announced his intention to step down from the six-campus system as soon as a new president can takeover.

Officials say they hope to name a successor by the end of the academic year, if not sooner.
